A couple of years ago, I had a weird dream about walking through a strange Province. It was daytime, or at least that’s how it seemed. People were out and about, kids running and playing, couples holding hands while sitting on benches. I saw some cute chicks with their boyfriends but didn’t wanna look too long, I Wasn’t trying to get jumped you feel me!?
while taking a detour through a park I remember having this overwhelming feeling of being very far from home. This feeling caused me to stop and take a closer look at my surroundings.
I looked up and noticed the sky was a shade of pink. I looked at the trees and saw that the leaves were pink also. The buildings in the background were shaped differently than I was used to seeing.
And then I thought to myself…. “im in China….” Strange dream right!? I know.
it’s now 2014 and that dream became a reality.
Last month I took a short notice trip to China. The purpose of the trip was for me to work on our Society Original Products® upcoming collections, from more of a hands on standpoint. Throw in some quality control, fabric sourcing, alcohol drinking, room service and we got ourselves a party!
I managed to get some good work done and figured out how to work a bit more efficiently. Hopefully that will show in our branding efforts and product as we continue to grow and produce the highest quality clothing for all of you guys and maybe gals wink.
I visited the largest fabric sourcing location in China. There were entire malls and street blocks dedicated to nothing but fabric. It was insane! I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. It was my first time there but hopefully not my last.
We have some really dope styles dropping throughout the year. i can’t wait for everyone to see and experience it.
Overall I had an awesome time in China. I feel like the work I was putting in and trying to do was still not enough! I guess that’s what it’s like when you love what you do, none of it feels like work. If I got tired, I slept for a while, woke up then right back at it!
I made some really cool friends and got closer with people I’ve been doing business with over the years.
I even made attempts at learning how to speak Chinese, haha. I only learned a few words but I will get better eventually.
I got to see in person just how big the bike culture is in China, it blew my mind. I can’t stress enough just how many bikes I saw. It was like bike heaven on steroids! . Nothing could’ve been more ironic than seeing all those bikes while I took their pictures wearing a Society bike hat. Crazy.
I can’t wait to go back. I’m always looking to gain more of these personal experiences, but most of all I’m always looking for ways to improve the experience someone has when purchasing, touching, feeling and wearing our product. It starts here, I’m willing to travel all the way across the world alone to make better clothing for YOU! least you can do is buy me a beer or somethingPosted in Lifestyle, Marcel Angol
